How to Specify a Perfume Spray Pump: Output, Fit, Dip Tube and Test Checklist

Rédacteur: Jacob

A practical buyer checklist for selecting a perfume spray pump with the right output, bottle fit, dip tube, cap clearance and filled-pack test evidence.

Write one measurable pump brief

Start with the exact bottle SKU or neck drawing, the closure route, target pump output, fragrance type, fill level, cap direction, decoration stack, target quantity and market. A fine-mist pump cannot be approved from an appearance reference alone: the written brief should identify the physical interface and the performance evidence needed before bulk production.

Confirm the complete assembly, not only the nominal neck

Fit the selected pump with the actual bottle, collar and cap before deciding that the set is compatible. Review fixation, gasket contact, actuator travel, cap engagement and clearance after coating or printing. A nominal neck name is a useful filter, but the current drawings and a physical component matching review decide whether the finished stack can be assembled consistently.

Set a dip-tube rule for the real bottle

Approve dip tube material, cut length, end treatment and permitted tolerance using the intended bottle and pump. A tube that is too long can curl or restrict flow, while one that is too short can leave excessive product behind. Record the approved cut rule with the component ID so a later pump or bottle revision does not quietly change pickup performance.

Test filled performance and link it to the quotation

Use the intended fragrance and finished pack to record priming, pump output, spray pattern, leakage, actuator return, cap retention and transport behaviour. Test upright, inverted and side orientations according to the agreed quality plan. The approved bottle, pump, collar, cap and test outcome should appear in the supplier quotation, drawing pack and golden sample record before a bulk order is released.
